Front fork and brake fitment on my first board-track inspired motorized bike build.
I started building my first bike ever, and it was going to be motorized. I have always liked the board-track style, and it inspired this build. Most people around me said my ideas would never work, hence the name: When Pigs Fly.
When I started this project, I had barely welded before. I still cannot make a perfect weld, but I keep improving.
Parts used:
- Ross Girls frame
- 26-inch springer front fork
- 160 mm Kreidler front drum brake
- 26-inch wooden Ghisallo rims
- Wooden Ghisallo moustache handlebars
- Shimano FH-M525 rear disc hub
- BMX bottom bracket
- Renthal BMX front sprocket
- 80cc engine kit

The bike started out as a Ross Girls frame. I added a Kreidler 160 mm front brake and a standard springer fork.

The springer fork I bought did not fit, so I had to cut and weld the clamp.

I drilled six holes in the hub to give it a sportier look (I do not ride in the rain anyway).

I then added a pair of wooden rims from Italy. I laced the wheels myself for now with DT Swiss spokes and will have them re-laced after paint and polishing. I also had to drill new spoke holes in the hub because it originally belongs to a Kreidler moped that uses thicker spokes.
